2022 Steamship Lines General Ocean Rate Increase; Hawaii Delivery Rates; Interisland Rates

Aloha HFS Customer:
The steamship lines serving Hawaii announced they will raise rates to and from Hawaii effective January 2, 2022. Westbound container loads will increase by $250.00 and Eastbound containers by $125.00. No adjustment will be made to the terminal handling charge (THC).
As a result, it is necessary for Honolulu Freight Service to pass on this increase. Our Full container load (FCL) rates and less than container load (LCL) ocean rates will be adjusted accordingly for both westbound & eastbound, respectively. These adjustments are a direct pass through of ocean carrier price increases.
In regard to Wharfage and Facility Security fees, please note the state of Hawaii will increase rates in July as they do each year. The amount of the increase is currently unknown. As the date gets closer to July, we will make sure to update you.
Additionally, due to increasing costs in the trucking industry and our Hawaii operations, Oahu Hawaii delivery rates will be increasing. Our delivery agents in Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island will also increase their delivery rates. These will take effect on January 2, 2022.
Interisland service: HFS absorbed fuel surcharge adjustments during 2021 from Young Brothers pertaining to our Interisland Consolidation Service. Accordingly, on January 2, 2022, our Interisland rates will increase to help offset the increased Interisland costs.
