Controller
Description

The Controller supports the accounting team and oversees day-to-day accounting operations such as financial record keeping, report preparation, and financial statement accuracy. This position includes creating and executing accounting policies, supervising accounting staff, and working with other departments to achieve overall financial objectives.

Requirements
  • Supervises and supports the accounting team.
  • Manages the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensures accuracy in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. Including oversight with implementing and maintaining accounting systems, procedures, and policies.
  • This position ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and acts as liaison between the company departments and leadership in providing required documents and ensuring proper information is maintained.
  • Focus on ensuring the smooth running of daily accounting functions and adherence to financial policies. The Controller is crucial in the execution of strategies and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Perform and/or review monthly reconciliations.
  • Create and/or approve journal entries.
  • Maintain fixed asset listings and perform annual physical inventories of fixed assets
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Work with CFO in preparing monthly and annual general excise tax filings and annual PUC filings.
  • Other tasks and functions as required or needed.
Job Qualifications and Skills
  • At least seven years of accounting experience with at least 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP. Background in transportation is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or a related field. CPA or MBA a plus.
  • Familiarity with the creation and implementation of accounting and accounting related processes and procedures.
  • Prior experience with accounting and accounting related software modules. Prior experience with system implementations is a plus.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality, have strong business acumen and practice ethical behavior and conduct.
Physical Requirements

This position will require the ability to sit or stand for long periods. Use of computer, including a mouse, keyboard, monitor, printer, with or without reasonable accommodations.
