Under the direction of the manager this position provides management support for the Night Shift Warehouse, and provides supervisory guidance to the staff. Ensures all servicing functions are within the department’s guidelines. Plans, assigns and monitors work flow; maintains a working knowledge of all operations within the department. Assists in the business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Ensures employees and processes are in compliance with all applicable operational processes and guidelines.
- Assists with the supervision of employees and ensuring all Safety Standards, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) are being met and adhered to.
- Effectively communicate, update and input information to TMS (Transportation Management System) and WMS (Warehouse Management System).
- Leads and oversees the staff to obtain maximum department productivity and effectiveness, and keeps the staff informed of any changes.
o Supervise with the loading / offloading of box trucks, flatbeds, trailers and containers.
o Ensuring shipments and truck loading accuracy.
o Inputting and printing of drivers manifests.
o Segregating and routing of shipments for next day truck deliveries.
o Informs drivers of next day start time.
- Assists with determining staffing levels and assigning workloads to warehouse associates.
- Ensuring BMP (Best Management Practice) is met daily.
- Assists in the daily reporting of nightshift workloads to the dayshift warehouse associates.
- Responsible for communicating and notifying managers of any information, that may directly impact the department. (Ex: Mishaps, Damages, Chemicals, Accidents / Injuries, Lost Freight).
- Identifies areas for improvement. Reviews and implements changes to improve efficiency of the department’s operations and functions.
- Reviews, monitors and evaluates work for accuracy, and the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employee performance levels.
- All other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Experience loading and unloading containers
- Forklift, power tools and other heavy equipment experience preferred
- Basic math, written and oral communications skills
- Cross-dock experience preferred
- Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance required.
- Work overtime as needed.
