Honolulu Freight Service is seeking a high performing, detailed-oriented Safety and Risk Specialist to join our team. The Safety and Risk Specialist will collaborate closely with teams across our different locations to promote safety, and administration of programs to ensure agency compliance.
This position will report to the Executive Vice President and will use their experience in safety and transportation to contribute to the operations of the business.
- Develop, implement, and foster effective safety programs and standards for the organization.
- Establish risk and loss prevention programs, procedures and participate in investigations and audits.
- Identify unsafe working conditions or practices and recommend solutions to continuously improve safety and mitigate risk.
- Manage implementation of and adherence to all aspects of Health and Safety, OSHA compliance and applicable laws and regulations.
- Work closely with agents to renew commercial insurance lines – Business protection lines, Bonds, Property, G/L, Auto, Inter-change, WC, and Shipper’s interest insurance.
- COI tracking and management.
- Claims management and investigation; accidents, truckers, auto, shippers, G/L, WC, theft and casualty claims and other claims as needed
- Update and manage UIIA, eModal and other software or systems as required
- Owner Operator/Carrier management; contract review, insurance, and qualifications
- DOT compliance management; maintain and manage management of DQF for all locations
- Responsible for operational functions including safety, security and risk, compliance and for administration and support of departmental safety programs
- Keep up to date on legal requirements and regulations in relation to risk and safety
- Actively seek and identify areas of process improvement
- Ability to travel as needed
- Other administrative duties as assigned or requested
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience working with commercial insurance
- Safety and Risk Management experience.
- Trucking experience preferred.
- Self-directed, energetic, motivated and able to adapt to a changing environment
